I guess Daniël van der Waals's frustration with Spatial is from repeated failures. We can all have a bad day. The technology underneath a #metaverse is extremely complex and any of the multiple systems involved can fail on occasion. If Whatsapp sometimes goes down for hours sometimes what can the rest of us companies do with our budget?
The basic problem with spatial and the other web-based metaverses is that the WebAssembly technology that supports them is not yet optimized enough to compete with native applications.
And I have the moral authority to say this because we are also creating (and suffering) a "lite" web version of our technology (it is already in Alpha version). Although we already offer a web version (with cloud gaming) the market is forcing us to create a "pure" browser version, however, the idea that you have to use a web version to save users the hassle of installing an application is like peeing in your pants to warm up. You're warm at first but then you freeze.
If we can connect 1000 users in a native application on a cell phone it will be interesting to find out how many we can connect in the browser version. Can we overcome the 30-50 limit of most of them? What do you think?
The future of the metaverse starts on mobile and we are the unquestionable leaders.
