𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁. ⁣ I found this interview with Gabe Newell, co-founder and CEO of Valve, which is still topical a year later. ⁣ ⁣ We must contextualize Gabe's point of view by taking into account the vision of the #metaverse of the novel Ready Player One, which Mark Zuckerberg bought for all Oculus employees: a meta-universe focused on video games in which you interact through VR glasses (and other sensors). Although we are far from the level of interaction and quality that the film presents us, it does not differ so much from, for example, Rockstar's offer with Grand Theft Auto V. If you do not know this game you should take a look at the possibilities offered by its technology and the mods that the community has developed. Players compete in car races, rob banks, manage the emergency services of a city, invest in the stock market, go to the gym to improve their character, visit stores to buy clothes for their avatar, acquire houses or yachts...  I don't even want to imagine what they will offer players with GTA VI.⁣ ⁣ 𝗜𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? Yes, most people who talk about this topic from the business world have not played a video game in their life and do not understand the motivations of gamers.⁣ ⁣ So... is the future of the #metaverse video games and companies like Rock Star or EPIC? Well, we must clearly separate between two use cases: company and end users on the one hand and gamers on the other. ⁣ ⁣ -     𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 don't want to know anything about the concept of #metaverse that we're discussing right now. They will naturally adopt to it only when it is really fun, providing them the same satisfaction and entertainment as current AAA games. I personally vote for Rockstar Games 😊⁣ ⁣ -     𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆/𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 will never download GTA VI to enjoy the #metaverse . They want lightweight, safe and easy-to-use solutions. Adoption will also be natural but by way of utility (not entertainment). ⁣ ⁣ A friend of mine who doesn't understand what we do at Virtway | Events & Training Metaverse asked me what the metaverse was for. I proposed to imagine that when you buy your next car maybe you enter a 3D website where you can take a walk among the cars in the exhibition, see their characteristics, ask questions to a human commercial rep (or an AI bot) and maybe comment with another connected user at that time what they like about this or that model. It was a great "aha moment!" 😊
